When trades or technical work are required, we source locally and keep compensation accountable.

Report transparently

Budgets, progress, and outcomes are shared clearly—so supporters can track what happened.

Step 6

Closeout & handover

We verify outcomes, publish a closeout report, and hand long‑term ownership to local partners.

What we look for

Safety & safeguarding

Clear risk controls and ethical implementation plans.

Measurable outcomes

Practical metrics (reach, access, training completions, etc.).

Local leadership

Projects designed with local leadership, aligned with local priorities, laws, and culture.

Transparency required

Clear budgets, progress updates, and outcomes that supporters can verify.

What makes a good idea?

Not every idea should become a project — and that’s okay. A strong submission isn’t the biggest idea. It’s the most responsible one.

Review criteria

Real, specific problem

Start with something concrete (where, what’s broken, and who is affected).

Local leadership involved

We build with communities. Include a local partner or accountable leader when possible.

Realistic scope

Clear constraints, timeline, and what is realistically achievable.

Measurable outcomes

Define 2–4 metrics and what evidence can verify progress (photos, counts, receipts).

Safety, dignity, and maintenance

We slow down if it’s unsafe, displaces local jobs, or can’t be maintained after delivery.

A simple test

Is the problem clearly defined?
Is local leadership involved?
Can it be maintained after implementation?
Can we verify success with evidence?
Are we prepared to pause if it’s unsafe or unrealistic?

Strong submissions often include

A 1–2 sentence problem statement (location + who is affected)
What currently exists (services, infrastructure, constraints)
Who will own and maintain outcomes after delivery
A rough timeline and budget range (even if approximate)

Common reasons we pause

Plans that bypass local leadership, permission, or community consent
Work that requires licensed medical / structural engineering without local professionals
Approaches that could displace local jobs or create long-term dependency
Projects with no realistic maintenance or handover pathway

Example idea statements

Example: “In Northern Region, Ghana, 3 villages rely on seasonal surface water. We’d like to partner with a local water committee to install two protected boreholes and train caretakers for maintenance, with receipts and photo verification for each milestone.”

Example: “In rural Haiti, a clinic is overwhelmed during rainy season. We propose a partner-led triage tent + basic supplies stock, with a 90‑day inventory log, volunteer training, and a public closeout summary.”
